The 2021 College Football season is right around the corner and it’s a great time to take a look at some of the best 2022 eligible skill position players in the nation! And to go through it in a fun way, we’ll sift through a two-round, 24-pick, 2022 rookie mock draft held by three members of our devy fantasy football team: Matt Wispe, Stefan Lako, and me (Travis May).
Some people find it near impossible to try and predict the top offensive rookie playmakers in a given draft this early, but our devy fantasy football squad is incredible. When we held a rookie mock draft on the College to Canton podcast last year before the 2020 college football season began this was what our first round looked like:
1.01: Trevor Lawrence (first-round pick to the Jaguars)
1.02: Justin Fields (first-round pick to the Bears)
1.03: Travis Etienne (first-round pick to the Jaguars)
1.04: Ja’Marr Chase (first-round pick to the Bengals)
1.05: Rashod Bateman (first-round pick to the Ravens)
1.06: Rondale Moore (second-round pick to the Cardinals)
1.07: Chuba Hubbard (fourth-round pick to the Panthers)
1.08: Jaylen Waddle (first-round pick to the Dolphins)
1.09: DeVonta Smith (first-round pick to the Eagles)
1.10: Najee Harris (first-round pick to the Steelers)
1.11: Chris Olave (returned to school)
1.12: Trey Lance (first-round pick to the 49ers)
Really, there was only one true “miss” in the bunch thanks to Hubbard’s meltdown last fall. Our team’s improved on their projection abilities every single season, but this year we’ll try to shoot 100% in Round 1 for you all. Let’s dive into next year’s top rookie candidates.
