Sam Wallace identifies two veteran players to consider adding to your dynasty squads this offseason as you work towards a fantasy championship in 2021.
Player values continuously fluctuate during the calendar year. Dynasty managers have become adept at determining the most optimal time to trade away, or trade for, players and future rookie picks. We all know when rookie fever sets in, and we’ve heard the narrative that contending teams buy veterans near the trade deadline to make that final push. There’s nothing wrong with that approach if it helps you win a title, but you end up paying a premium for an aging asset.
I have a different proposal. Dynasty managers should be their most active now, during the offseason following the NFL Draft. Hyped rookies and free agent moves have sent established players, many of them aging, into downward ADP spirals. Perceived values are drastically changing as OTAs kick-off, and depth charts start to take shape. Managers need to take advantage of murky news and questionable situations. These assets can be acquired now more cheaply than they can be obtained once the season starts. Take your shots on these players and put yourself in a position to bolster your roster or return value in the near future.
Ben Roethlisberger
At 39 years old, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers certainly fits the bill as an aging veteran. But can he help your fantasy team with a title in 2021? Let’s take a look.
