With the NFL Draft officially in the books, a quick look at the FFPC Exposures and ADP tool shows a number of players who were ignored pre-draft now going in the late rounds of FFPC best ball drafts. While there’s always risk incurred when drafting some of these late-round darlings at this point in the season, we shouldn’t dismiss them to lack of familiarity. But becoming familiar with these players can take time, and let’s be honest – we just want to draft as much as we can and as soon as possible.
For this reason, I’ve decided to put together a list of these recently popularized players that I hope will offer some insight in the coming months. If 2021’s version of James Robinson was right under your nose, I assume that like myself, you’d want to know about it.
ADP data is from May 1 to May 13
Amari Rodgers, WR, GB – (275.0 ADP, WR81)
Since FFPC best ball drafts first opened on January 16th, Packers wide receiver Amari Rodgers has been selected in just 155 of the 317 drafts conducted. Of those 155 selections, 45 of them have occurred since May 1st. It’s safe to say, Rodgers was largely unknown or at least overlooked by the majority of drafters. His overall ADP of 306.5 has jumped to 275.0 since May 1.
A product of Clemson, Rodgers spent the majority of his career behind Tee Higgins and to a lesser degree, Hunter Renfrow while junior WR Justyn Ross missed the 2020 season following surgery. Through his first two seasons at Clemson, Ross posted a receiving line of 46/1,000/9 as a freshman and 66/865/8 as a sophomore – good for a 23% dominator rating over that stretch.
In 2020, Rodgers became the de facto WR1 for Clemson, working out of the slot, thanks to Higgins leaving for the NFL and Ross missing the season.
This resulted in Rodgers posting career-highs across the board.
