QB rankings and streaming advice for Week 14 of the 2020 fantasy football season.
Though we survived Week 13 without more COVID-19 outbreaks, the aftereffects of Week 12’s chaos blessed us with two Monday football games and another Tuesday night (and we don’t mind it, NFL).
The reprieve was short-lived, however. On Monday, the Carolina Panthers – who had a bye last week – reported eight players testing positive for COVID-19, and their facility was closed. The total Panthers players on the COVID-19 list as of this writing (12/9) is 10, though their facility opened Wednesday for practice after being closed Monday and Tuesday.
Other lingering questions as we reach the final fantasy weeks of the regular season:
- Drew Brees is eligible to come off IR this week, though Taysom Hill is expected to get one more start. While Hill is not Brees, he has managed to lead the Saints to three straight wins and has skyrocketed his ownership to over 80% in ESPN leagues.
- It seemed inevitable, but Carson Wentz was benched deep into the third quarter against the Packers on Sunday after going 6-for-15 for 79 yards, allowing us to finally witness second-round draft pick Jalen Hurts under center. Coach Doug Pederson announced Hurts will start Week 14 against the Saints, though time will tell how long that lasts.
- Is Baker Mayfield finally showing signs of life? Against a tough Titans’ defense, Mayfield posted his seventh 300-yards passing game in his career and his first of the 2020 season. In his second consecutive multi-touchdown game, he became the first Browns QB since 1966 with 330+ pass yards, 4-plus passing TDs, and 0 INTs.
I myself managed to bounce back from the previous week’s lackluster performance with all three QBs posting QB1 performances. Kirk Cousins threw for 305 yards, three touchdowns, and two turnovers and has now led the Vikings to victory in five of the last six games. Meanwhile, Philip Rivers’ 8.1 yards per attempt was his best in six games along with 285 passing yards and two TDs. Derek Carr posted his own bounceback performance as the QB1 on the week, with nearly 400 passing yards and four TDs.
TwoQB | Kirk Cousins | 21.4 FP |
Streamer | Philip Rivers | 19.2 FP |
Bounce back | Derek Carr | 31.7 FP |
We have completed the bye-week portion of the regular season, meaning the playoffs are around the corner. If you are still reaching to secure your spot, every start counts.
