QB rankings and streaming advice for Week 9 of the 2020 fantasy football season.
Rookies continued to break records and make headlines through Week 8.
- Justin Herbert joined Deshaun Watson as the only rookie quarterbacks in NFL history with 3-plus touchdown passes in four consecutive games.
- Joe Burrow reached 221 completions on the season, the most by a player in his first eight career games in NFL history.
- Tua Tagovailoa made his first career start — and notched his first NFL win — for the Miami Dolphins in a 28-17 victory over the Rams. And, like his fellow rookies, Tagovailoa’s offense made history — but not for the reason fans may have hoped for. Miami had just 145 yards on offense, the first team to gain less than 150 yards and win by double digits in NFL history. Tagovailoa didn’t need to do much to be successful in his debut, as the Dolphins forced four turnovers, returned one fumble for a touchdown and returned a punt for a touchdown. Tagovailoa completed 54.5% of his passes for 93 yards and a touchdown.
With Gardner Minshew expected to miss Week 9 with a thumb injury, another rookie might be added to the starting lineup, with sixth-round pick Jake Luton expected to get the nod for the Jags.
My boast from last week resulted in a quick auto-correction with my picks, as all three disappointed. Teddy Bridgewater had his lowest yardage output of the season in a game where he was constantly under pressure and had to leave the game for several plays to be evaluated for both a concussion and a neck injury. Derek Carr ended his five-week winning streak of throwing multiple touchdowns in a game with just 112 yards and a touchdown and Jimmy Garoppolo was sidelined with an ankle injury and is out indefinitely, meaning Nick Mullens will take the reigns once again this season.

There are plenty of quarterback shuffles as we officially transition into the second half of the season. Despite the change-ups, this week has arguably the fewest waiver wire options of the season. With Cleveland, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and the LA Rams all on bye in Week 9, I present my top picks of the week.
