Key Injuries
The Patriots have a laundry list of questionable players this week. Damien Harris, Isaiah Wynn, JJ Taylor, Lawrence Guy, and Ryan Izzo, and Stephon Gilmore carry the questionable designation. Wide receivers N’Keal Harry and Julian Edelman have already been ruled out. Even against a team as bad as the Jets, the Patriots dominating this game isn’t a lock.
Quinnen Williams and Sam Darnold will likely not play in this game, while Jamison Crowder is questionable.
This game is shaping up to be one of the ugliest showdown slates we’ll see all year.
Pace and Play Calling
While both of these teams play fast at around 27 seconds per play, the offenses are fairly inefficient with less than 60 plays per game each. We’d like this game to stay close for fantasy purposes. One team pulling away would slow this contest down significantly.
Only BAL and MIN are running the ball more often in neutral game script situations than NE. The Jets aren’t far behind them with a 46% run rate of their own. NYJ is truly puzzling, considering they’ve run well over 200 plays while trailing at least two possessions. They have one of the highest run rates in such game scripts. The Jets are bad for for fantasy not just in regards to their team, but who they’re playing as well.
