We have officially run into the first COVID-19 postponement of the year to make this slate just a bit more interesting. As we head into Week 4, it seems like everyone in the Twittersphere has officially figured out what’s going to happen moving forward. The next few weeks are typically the best time to go a bit contrarian because of the overconfidence that goes along with the community having three data points.
New Orleans (-4.5) at Detroit
Alvin Kamara ($8,000) is just so completely underpriced. It’s almost comical. The problem with how easy it is to fit him into your lineups is the fact that … everyone is going to fit him into their lineups. He might come in as the highest-owned expensive(ish) RB on any 2020 slate this week.
Kamara is the only running back in the NFL with both 30 rush attempts and 30 targets. His workload is about as valuable as you can get as he’s fourth in red-zone opportunities. A lot has been made about Drew Brees ($5,800) and his limitations, but even if you buy into that, it shouldn’t dissuade you from playing Kamara. Any problems that Brees has will only lead to more work for the running back.
Indianapolis (-2.5) at Chicago
If I told you that the Colts won by nearly 30 points last week, you’d probably assume that Jonathan Taylor ($6,600) saw career-high attempts and had a good game. You’d be wrong. Thanks to Sam Darnold’s penchant for pick-sixes, the Colts DST scored twice as many points as Taylor.
While that performance was disappointing, it was largely out of his control. He’s still averaging nearly 17 DK Points per game through the first three contests of his career. This will be one of the more difficult matchups that he’ll face in 2020, so we should tread lightly again this week. Taylor isn’t someone I’m excluding from my player pool, but I’m not prioritizing him either.
I am prioritizing Allen Robinson ($6,7000), though. He’s fifth in Receiving EP through the first few weeks of the year. In his tenure as a Bear, he’s dealt with subpar QB play[1]to put it mildly and has still averaged over 16 DK Points per game. In fact, eight of his 15 starts with Chicago have ended with a 20-plus DK Point output.
The quarterback change should be an upgrade for Robinson, and we could be looking at a ceiling game against a neutral opponent.
Tampa Bay (-7.5) vs Los Angeles Chargers
Ronald Jones ($4,700) was one of the most polarizing figures of the offseason. And that was before they added Leonard Fournette ($5,600) into the fray.
