QB rankings and streaming advice for Week 1 of the 2020 fantasy football season.
Generally, football doesn’t sneak up on me. Then again, there isn’t too much about this year that we can consider “general.” Nevertheless, I am genuinely surprised and grateful to be writing a fantasy football article at this very moment. It seems too good to be true and, frankly, this year, it is. Though I’m still holding my breath – there is still uncertainty surrounding whether the NFL season can finish, several star players have opted out due to health concerns associated with COVID-19, and we will see few, if any, fans in stadiums — I know this much to be true, we will see a Week 1 NFL kick-off, and we will appreciate it more than ever before. I, for one, will have a newfound appreciation for this weekly column and hope to provide something you can rely on each week – quarterback streamer picks.
Quick refresher before we get started, we have some old quarterbacks wearing new colors.
- Philip Rivers is a Colt
- Tom Brady is a Buccaneer
- Cam Newton is a Patriot
- Teddy Bridgewater has finally found a starting role with the Panthers
There are also some newcomers – Joe Burrow is the new quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals (with Andy Dalton now on the Cowboys) and Tua Tagovailoa is expected to be the franchise quarterback the Miami Dolphins have been searching for the last 20-some years (though they will still start the season with Ryan Fitzpatrick).
For those who have been with me since I first started this quarterback streaming column back in 2017, thank you and nice to see you again. For those just joining, here is what you can expect: maintaining the same format as last year’s QB streaming series, I’ll be choosing a TwoQB pick of week, my favorite streamer, and a “bounceback candidate” who is worthy of a start after coming off a bad fantasy week (or several). Prior to bye weeks, these picks are particularly beneficial for deeper leagues, superflex and 2QB. To hold myself accountable for your decisions, I’ll recap the results of each pick the following week.
And with that, let’s get this party started!
