Mark Wemken breaks down the DraftKings and FanDuel MNF Showdown slates for Week 1.
Week 1 has nearly gone as quickly as it arrived. The final two games of what is always my favorite week of the year for DFS are here, and I’ll be breaking down their DFS showdown slates position by position in consecutive articles.
This article will only cover the DraftKings prices and scoring. At the time of this writing, there was no showdown slate for this contest on FanDuel.
MNF Showdown – PIT@NYG
Implied Totals
O/U – 45
PIT – 25.5
NYG – 19.5
Injury Report
Golden Tate logged limited practices all week due to a hamstring injury. He appears to be truly questionable for this contest. Both Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard would receive significant boosts in target volume with Tate off the field.
Dave DeCastro is expected to miss this game. DeCastro has been an anchor along the Steelers offensive line for several years. He started all 16 games in 2019.
Pace and Play Calling Tendencies
PIT was one of the slowest-moving team’s in all of football last year without Ben Roethlisberger. Their starting quarterback is supposedly healthy, so it’s fair to expect a faster, more efficient offense to start 2020. The Steelers ran the third-fewest plays and passed at the 11th-lowest rate in all of football last year. The Giants will have a new play-caller in Jason Garrett, who has had some success in recent years.
The pace of play for this game is a true wild card, which could be why the total of 45 is as high as it is.
