Shawn Siegele looks at his early Main Events and breaks down the 12 drafts in the FFPC Redraft Dashboard to find the best player values.
Virus testing is coming back clean for NFL players, and early FFPC Main Events are off to the races. I’ve had the good fortune to draft in two Main Events already, one with Colm Kelly and Ben Gretch for a special week-long series on RotoViz Overtime, the other with good friend and managing editor Blair Andrews.
Main Events put you up against some of the best, gutsiest, and most invested drafters in the world. It’s crucial to find values against such competition, and these potential values also give us key insights for the other type of draft that really matters – defeating your best friends in the annual home league.
The Next Chris Godwin
That was Samuel Wallace’s thesis on Christian Kirk, and Kirk also makes our list of the 10 Most Undervalued Players in Dynasty Startups. Despite this, Kirk continues to fall. Even glowing reviews from the head coach aren’t moving the needle. From the RotoViz News feed:
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Christian Kirk certainly won’t be the focal point of the team’s passing game with DeAndre Hopkins now in town, but that shouldn’t stop him from having a big season according to his coach. Leading up to training camp, Arizona head coach Kliff Kingsbury spoke glowingly of Kirk, saying “I see the production and I see the potential to go through the roof.” Kirk saw 107 targets over 13 games last year. He might not reach that target clip again this year, but the quality of targets should certainly go up with defenses focused on stopping Hopkins. Kirk is currently being drafted as about the 40th receiver on the board and has the potential to return fantastic value from that spot.
Kirk is going at 8.12 in the live Main Events, and we can track his progress against both live and slow drafts.
Kirk lasted even later in my leagues. Yesterday, Kirk was the top player on our board at the 8.01, but we passed on him to select our TE1 in T.J. Hockenson. He slid to the 9.04. Last Friday, he became our WR6 at 9.03. That Single-Elite-RB team with Alvin Kamara at the top looks positively scary with Kirk in tow.
