Welcome to my fourth installment of the Decoding Backfields series. In my last three pieces, I broke down the backfields for the San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens, and Miami Dolphins. Next up, an aging star and an underused, unappreciated asset. How will the Houston Texans backfield look heading into this upcoming season?
Let’s take a closer look.
David Johnson
Peak David Johnson was a sight to behold.
Eclipsing 400 points (PPR scoring), 2,000 scrimmage yards, and 20 total touchdowns rank among some of the best single seasons by a running back ever. A wrist injury derailed most of his 2017 season, and he spent 2018 slogging his way through a season on one of the worst offenses in football.
