After a week out in Pebble Beach for an exciting U.S. Open, we’re heading east to scenic Cromwell, Connecticut to TPC River Highlands. This course has been in the rotation since 1992. It’s a short Pete Dye design, coming in at about 6,800 yards and is a par 70. The poa annua greens run reasonably fast — around 11.5 feet on the stimpmeter. They are some of the smaller greens on tour, averaging about 5,000 square feet. The course features four water hazards and is littered with 69 bunkers.

OFF THE TEE
Looking through the list of winners over the past five years, it should be apparent that there are multiple ways to win at this course. There are 49 golfers that have finished in the top five of DK scoring since 2010. Just over 28% (14/49) of golfers in that group hit the top 10 in driving distance compared to 25% (12/49) that hit that threshold for driving accuracy. Hitting either of those ranks here hasn’t led to much of a difference in DK scoring outcome.
Ranking | DK Average |
Top 10 Driving Accuracy | 74.85 |
Top 10 Driving Distance | 75.44 |
With that being said, accuracy across the whole field is more highly correlated to DK Scoring than distance. Getting in position off the tee is always important at Dye designs.
