Jared Goff and Marcus Mariota Faced 14 Common Opponents – Here’s How They Fared

In the 2015 NFL Draft, Marcus Mariota was the second overall pick. In the 2016 NFL Draft, it’s quite possible that Jared Goff will be the second overall pick. As fate should have it, these quarterbacks overlapped for two years in the Pac 12, which led to them playing 14 common opponents, or approximately one full season. While their styles of play are somewhat different, many of the criticisms are the same, for example, “how much did their college system prop them up?” Although this isn’t a perfect exercise, I think we can learn a lot about the two by comparing their performance in these common games.
