Welcome to the 18th installment of the “The Wrong Read,” an article series that reflects on recent podcast episodes, pushing the ideas discussed on the podcasts to their logical conclusions and offering some further thoughts on the topics broached by the guests and hosts. Prospect season is upon us, so here’s something you can read on the importance of draft age. On the latest episode of the RotoViz Mailbag, host Jeremy Hardt and guest Greg Smith lamented the running back situation in Tennessee, and wondered whether it was finally time for Derrick Henry to take over that backfield. Henry’s inability to overtake DeMarco Murray is especially frustrating at RotoViz because he was a favorite of ours in 2017. Henry was an RB Propect Lab superstar but has yet to live up to expectations, mainly because he is stuck as the second back in a timeshare. So is 2018 the year he finally becomes the lead back? To be honest, this question probably won’t yield a straightforward answer, at least not yet. However, we can gain some insight into likely scenarios and their fantasy implications by coming at this situation from two directions: The first approach is a wisdom-of-the-crowds or market-based approach; the second is a historical approach.
