Week 14 Fantasy Football Waiver Advice

Week 14 waiver wire advice. The parameters and assumptions of this weekly waiver wire advice column can be found in the preseason introduction. My advice this week is pared down to focus on teams that are playoff bound but need a short-term boost or want to block their playoff opponents by grabbing the few remaining free agents that might make an impact over the fantasy season’s final three weeks. These players are listed in the order I prefer them, with availability in ESPN leagues in parentheses, but depending on your league and roster, your mileage may vary. Hit me up in the comments for specific questions.

@CKl @FF_Contrarian I could use some advice (and/or condolences) for my TE situation. Due to playing Tyrod over Alex Smith this week, I probably no longer have a bye (unless Ben + Juju score less than 10 total AND Mixon scores less than 5). I currently have Vernon Davis and Jordan Reed rostered. The waiver wire is a carnival of sadness (even Ricky Seals-Jones is rostered): Charles Clay, OJ Howard, Jesse James, Ed Dickson, Marcedes Lewis, Njoku, Stephen Anderson, Garrett Celek, Lance Kendricks, Dwayne Allen, Trey Burton. Rickey Seals-Jones, Julius Thomas, Ben Watson are all rostered. Burton is intriguing if Ertz is out, although the Rams defend the TE well. Kendricks, Celek, and Allen (now that Gronk is out) all have good matchups but don't inspire any confidence. Stephen Anderson got 12 targets, which is more than VD has gotten the last 3 weeks combined. But I'm already starting DeAndre Hopkins and I don't think my heart or stomach can handle starting two guys catching passes from Tom Savage. So would you hope that VD catches fire (pun intended)? If not, who would you choose from the land of misfit TEs? Keep in mind the Gronk owner needs a TE and I'm out of FAAB, so I may not even get my first choice.

Tough tight end situations guys, sorry about that.

mateo, i'd roll w VD or Reed.

Will, i'd see what @Ndutton @ndutton13 says but i'd prob go for Brate.

Sounds like Stephen Anderson was the last man standing in Houston with injuries to Fiedorowicz (concussion), Fuller (ribs), Bruce Ellington (hamstring), and Braxton Miller (concussion). According to Evan Silva, he played a ton of WR last week and set a career high in snaps (84%) and targets. Based on this new info, I'm seriously consider trying to grab him. Here's Silva's tweet

  4. Dave's early GLSP likes McCown and Brate, which I think makes sense given the defensive tendencies of those teams. Detroit really struggles against the TE, and Denver's collapsing team is far better against the run than pass. (I could see playing Mariota if Rishard is available, given his rushing adds to the floor.)

You might cut Booker and pick up Davis. (I like Booker in a vacuum, but that offense is basically done for 2017.)

  5. Matt says:

Didn't Brate get 6 targets last week with Winston back?
