The Wrong Read – Episode 16: Should You Leave Money on the Table?

Welcome to the 16th installment of the “The Wrong Read,” an article series that reflects on recent podcast episodes, offering another take on the topics broached there. I think my takes are the best, but your mileage may vary. If you also like some of my takes, here’s my opinion on the “who is the best QB in the NFL—Aaron Rodgers or DeShaun Watson?” debate–particularly timely with Rodgers’ return in Week 15. The basic premise of (most) DFS is pretty simple: make the best team you can without spending more than a certain amount on your team’s total salary. Given the generally strong relation between individual player salaries and fantasy scoring, it would stand to reason that the best way to maximize your team’s fantasy output is also to maximize the available salary. But are there ever times when it’s okay or even advantageous to leave some money on the table?
