Tight End Streaming: 3 Deep Plays for Week 6

Week 5 was a difficult one for tight end streamers, but with Austin Seferian-Jenkins coming in at TE9 last week, my honor (such as it is) remains. If not for Seferian-Jenkins finding the end zone in Week 5, I would have been tempted to take to the streets yelling “Don’t listen to me anymore!” Steelers TE Jesse James came in at a disappointing TE23, while the venerable Antonio Gates came in six spots later at TE30. Annoyingly, for the second week in a row the opponents of the New York Giants threw to the wrong TE when it counted, and Hunter Henry secured a top-12 finish thanks to his touchdown reception. Still, the past is the past, and what is done cannot be mended. Let’s look ahead to see who could be available to help your fantasy team in Week 6. As usual, my targets will be players who are available in at least 50 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues. The teams on a bye in Week 6 take with them some of the more viable TE options, such as Jason Witten and Jimmy Graham. The Bills too are on a bye week, although it will be a few weeks until fantasy owners can rely on Charles Clay again. I explored what the Bills may do at TE to cover his absence, but it won’t be much help to fantasy owners at this stage. And so, on that cheerful note, let’s look at players you can count on this week.

  1. What are your thoughts on Martellus Bennett at this point? Is he a better start than these streamers? Is he even worth holding on to?
