Diary of High Stakes Sophomores: One In A Million

Pete Overzet and Pat Kerrane are sharing their experiences playing high stakes fantasy football in the FFPC Main Event with a weekly article. In this edition, they get their hopes up after their first win of the season.

Look guys, we just won our first game of the season to move to 1-5…

And we know this may seem a little sudden, but this is the team we’ve been waiting for our entire lives and we’re not ashamed to admit it.

Please, let us finish…Kirk Cousins just had his best game of the season.

We are crazy about this team. Nelson Agholor looks like the best wide receiver in the 2014 draft class right now if you squint really hard and forget about a few other guys…

We’ve never felt this way about any other team. I mean, Austin Seferian-Jenkins looks like our generation’s Rob Gronkowski.

We feel like schoolboys again. Did you see Alvin Kamara hurdle that dude?

School boys who desperately want to make love to those sweet, sweet FFPC playoffs.

No, that’s not what we meant.

What we meant is, we think this team can go on a run and make the playoffs…

And we want to ask you all a question and we want you to give us an honest answer…

What do you think the chances are of a team like ours ending up in the playoffs?

Well, that’s difficult to say—

Hit us with it, just give it to us straight. We have suffered through so many losses and spilled so much ink to get to this point, the least you can do is level with us. What are our chances of Team Fantasyland making the playoffs?

Not good.

You mean, not good, like, one out of a hundred?

I’d say, more like one out of a million.

So you’re telling us there’s a chance…????!!!!
