“I never saw it coming.” In this bold predictions series, we’ll look at weekly matchups, using history as a contextual backdrop – as well as in-season trends – in order to unearth the unexpected events that have a chance at coming true. It ain’t easy being bold. An 0 – 3 record last week looks ugly, but to be great, you need a few breaks. We didn’t get any of those in Week 4, but we were (mostly) on the right track:
- The rookie tight end crop continues to amaze — they just weren’t two-TD amazing in Week 4. The first TE selected in the NFL Draft, O.J. Howard, finally joined the party, however, scoring his career first TD.
- I can’t blame a miss on predicting 150 yards for Julio Jones on the fact that he left the game with an injury. This was just bad process — Buffalo’s pass defense is legit.
- Meanwhile, Leonard Fournette came up a painful 21 yards short of putting three 2017 rookies in the top-10 list of rushing production in the first four games to start a career. But three in the top 11 isn’t bad either, and this truly is an incredible crop of rookie RBs.
- My goal is to end up at about 15-20 percent on the season. (back)
