3 Bold Predictions for Week 4

“I never saw it coming.” In this bold predictions series, we’ll look at weekly matchups, using history as a contextual backdrop – as well as in-season trends – in order to unearth the unexpected events that have a chance at coming true. Last week, we were one more Eli Manning interception away from making it two weeks in a row with a correct bold call. Manning managed two interceptions against the Eagles, but just couldn’t find that third one, as I had predicted. What else we missed:
  • Devin Funchess didn’t top 16.4 PPR points, despite Kelvin Benjamin leaving the game with an injury. Funchess scored 9.8 and the breakout will have to wait.
  • The process of predicting Derrick Henry as a top-10 RB last week was good, as the Seahawks gave up 169 yards on the ground. I expected Seattle’s run defense to struggle, I just didn’t expect DeMarco Murray to be so involved. For what it’s worth, Henry and Murray’s combined stats would have been good for the overall RB5 in Week 3.
On the year, we’re now 1-10 (10 percent) on our Bold Predictions. Let’s get back on the board this week with a big game from Mr. Week 4 himself, as well as a rookie tight end train that just keeps on rolling.
