Latavius Murray, Josh Gordon, and 4 Thoughts Heading Into Week 2

Latavius Murray

According to Rotoworld, both Darren McFadden and Latavius Murray will get work this week. If you need the short term points, then McFadden is probably the better play this week. If you’re hoping for a long term permanent solution, then Murray offers the most upside. A few caveats to offer here:
  1. The Raiders offense this season might end up making the spacewalk that opens the movie “Gravity” look like a success by comparison. So the end result upside might not be that high even for a lead back.
  2. MJD could be back any time. We don’t know.
  3. McFadden could end up being serviceable on his own.
  4. Marcel Reece might be undervalued.
Having said all of that, we pretty much just sit around and watch Aldrick Robinson preseason highlights until one of our RotoViz crushes gets a chance and then we go all in. In Murray’s case he had a great resume of production, he’s prototypical RB size, and he’s a fast dude. I just added him for free in a league. The player I dropped was end of bencher/Zero RB candidate Jon Grimes. If the two players are both waiting in the wings, it’s a lateral move. But conditional on Murray getting looks this week, it tips the balance toward the big Raider back.
