Vick Ballard: Fantasy Sleeper

vickballard

27 year old Ahmad Bradshaw, coming off foot surgery, opened the 2013 season on the PUP list and still hasn’t started practicing. He likely won’t suit up in the preseason. Alarm bells should be ringing in your ears, especially since Bradshaw has never been known as the model of consistent health.

Enter Vick Ballard. Vick Ballard’s measurable are nothing extraordinary, but he did put up some decent numbers from week 7 – 17 last year. Extrapolating those numbers using the RB Sim Score App, we can see that the app predicts some decent numbers from Ballard, if given the opportunity:

Standard Half PPR PPR
Low 5.6 6.2 6.9
Median 8.5 9.1 9.7
High 12.5 13.7 14.7

Given that Ahmad Bradshaw has some questionable wheels, you would be wise to invest a late round pick in Mr. Ballard.

Not convinced? Check out Vick Ballard’s comparable players (again, using weeks 7-17). Full disclosure: anytime the Sim Score App returns Thomas Jones as the most comparable player, angels sing, kittens purr, the Fantasy Douche’s nether regions tingle, and you know a player is destined for fantasy greatness:

Seriously though, there are some decent NFL backs listed above. Take advantage of Ballard’s falling ADP and the misplaced trust of owners in a still-injured Ahmad Bradshaw and invest a mid-round pick in Ballard. For the price of a tenth-round pick, you could easily have a starting back who could put up RB2 numbers.
